Chapter 15 

I. Eliphaz unwisely rebukes Job. Verses 1-16

The way of the transgressor is insecure. Verse 21, 1 Thess. 5:1-3  c). The way of the transgressor is hopeless. Verse 22, Eph. 2:12  d). The way of the transgressor is unfulfilled. I. Job rebukes his friends. Verses 1-6 

A. These are the reasons for that rebuke. Verses 1-3  1. They were miserable comforters. Verses 1-2  2. They were vain talkers. Verse 3  B. This was the plea of that rebuke. Verses 4-5  1. I. The grief of Job. Verses 1-10

Verses 5-21  A. These are the reason for their calamities. Verses 5-10  1. The wicked walk in spiritual darkness. Verses 5-6, Jude 11-12  2. The wicked fall by their own counsel. Verses 7-10, Matt. 15:14  B. These are the characteristics of their calamities. Verses 11-14  1. The wicked shall be filled with terrors. Verse 11, Heb. 10:26-31  2. I. The sufferings of Job. Verses 1-29 

A. These were the characteristics of his sufferings. Verses 1-20  1. Job was unjustly rebuked by his friends. Verses 1-5, Gal. 4:16  2. Job was divinely disciplined by the Lord. I. The prosperity of the wicked. Verses 1-29 

A. This was the charge of their prosperity. Verses 1-5  1. Zophar charged Job with wicked prosperity. Verses 1-5  2. We need to learn that a Christian suffers for righteousness. 1 Peter 4:12- 16  B. These are the characteristics of their prosperity. Verses 6-11  1. Their prosperity will soon perish. Verses 6-11  2. The wicked can loose their prosperity in a moment of time. Luke 12:20  C. Verse 19, 1 Thess. 5:1-3  2. The Lord will destroy them. Verses 20-21, 2 Thess. 1:7-9 III. The judgment of God. Verses 22-34  A. This is the way of that judgment. Verse 22  1. I. Elizhaz rebukes Job. Verses 1-11

Verse 5, Romans 3:28  2. Your have cheaded your fellowman. Verse 6, James 5:1-6  3. You have neglected the needy. Verse 7, James 2:15-16  4. You have neglected the orphants. Verses 8-9  C. This was the effect of that rebuke. Verses 10-11  1. You are ofverwhelmed by trouble. Verse 10, James 1:12  2. You are perishing. Verse 11, Jude 11:12 II. The judment of God. Verses 12-20  A. This is the manner of His judgment. Verses 12-14  1. It is by His wisdom. Verse 12, Isa. 55:8-9  2. It is by his truth. Verese 13, John 12:48  3. It is by his presence. Verse 14, 2 cor. 5:10  B. This is the assurance of His judgment. Verses 15-16  1. The Lord destroyed the world by water. Verses 15-16, 2 Peter 3:5-7  2. The Lord will destroy the world by fire. 2 Peter 3:10-12  C. This is the reason for His judgment. Verse 17  1. Man rejects God. Verse 17  2. Man defies God. Exod. 5:2  3. Man mocked God. 2 Peter 3:3-4  D. This is the effect of His judgment. Verses 18-20  1. The Lord does dely His judgment. Verse 18, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 2:4  2. The Lord does execute His judgment. Verses 19-20, Heb. 9:27, Romans 2:8-9 III. The value of repentance. Verses 21-30  A. This is the need for epentance. Verse 21  1. The sinner is separated from God. Isa. 59:1-2  2. The sinner is alienated from God. Eph. 2:12  B. This is the way of repentance. Verse 22  1. I. Job seeks the Lord. Verses 1-7 

A. This is his motivation to seek the Lord. Verses 1-3  1. Job had a great desire to find the Lord. Verses 1-3  2. We should have a great desire to find the Lord. I. The works of wicked men. Verses 1-12 

A. This is the mystery of their works. Verse 1  1. The wicked seemed to go unpunished. Verse 1  2. Yet, the wicked will be punished. Gal. 6:6-9  B. These are the characteristics of their works. Verses 2-4  1. The wicked rob their fellowman. Verse 2, Gal. 6:10  2. The wicked the fatherless. Verse 3, James 1:27  3. The wicked oppress the needy. Verse 4, James 2:14-16  C. I. The sovereignty of God. Verses 1-6 

A. This is the nature of His sovereignty. Verses 1-3  1. The Lord has unlimited power. Verses 1-3  2. The Lord has unused power. Eph. 3:21-22  B. This is the need for His sovereignty. Verse 4  1. Man can't justify himself before the Lord. Verse 4  2. The Lord can justify man before his presence. 1 Cor. 6:11, Jude 24-25  C. This is the effects of His sovereignty. Verses 5-6  1. Bildad had refused to encourage Job. Verse 3  2. We should encourage one another. 1 Thess. 4:13-18  C. This was the effect of that rebuke. Verse 4  1. Bildad had become useless to Job. Verse 4  2. We should never become useless to one another. 2 Cor. 1:3-7 II. The power of God. Verses 5-14  A. This is the greatness of His power. Verses 5-6  1. God has power over death. Verse 5, John 11:25  2. God has power over hell. Verse 6, Rev. 1:18  B. This was the nature of His power. Verses 7-10  1. The power of God sustains His creation. Verse 7, Heb. 1:3  2. The power of God provides for his creation. Verse 8, James 1:17  3. The power of God proves His existence. Verse 9, Romans 1:20  4. The power of God will bring the world to and end. Verse 10, 2 Peter 3:10-13  C. This was the effects of His power. Verses 11-14  1. This power of God conquerors the proud. Verses 11-12, 1 Peter 5:5  2. The power of God is unlimited. Verses 13-14, Eph. 3:20-24 Chapter 27 

I. The integrity of Job. Verses 1-6 

A. This was the difficulty for his integrity. Verses 1-2  1. The Lord had given him divine discipline. Verses 1-2  2. The Lord will give us divine discipline. Heb. 12:5-11  B. This was the determination of his integrity. Verses 3-4  1. Job was determined to remain faithful. Verses 3-4  2. We should determine to remain faithful. Heb. 6:9-12  C. This was the achievement of his integrity. Verses 5-6  1. Job maintained his integrity by believing the truth. Verses 5-6  2. We can maintain our integrity by believing the truth. 2 Tim. 1:12, 1 Peter 4:19 II. The life of the hypocrite. Verses 7-12  A. This is the nature of his life. Verse 7  1. He becomes unrighteous. Verse 7  2. We can become unrighteous. Matt. 7:1-5  B. This is the value of his life. Verse 8  1. His life can become useless. Verse 8  2. Our life can become useless. Matt. 16:26  C. This is the result of his life. Verses 9-10  1. The Lord will not answer his prayer in this life. Verse 9, John 9:31  2. The Lord will not respond to his requests in the coming life. Verse 10, Luke 16:22-31  D. These are the instructions for his life. Verses 11-12  1. The hypocrite has the instructions from God. Verse 11, 2 Tim. 3:16-17  2. The hypocrite should learn to clean up his life. Verse 12, Romans 2:1-3 III. The heritage of the wicked. Verses 13-23  A. These are the reasons for their heritage. Verse 13  1. The Lord gives them their inheritance. Verse 13  2. The Lord will punish all transgressors. Heb. 2:1-3  B. This is the nature of their heritage. Verses 14-17  1. The wicked will inherit family problems. Verses 14-15, Eph. 6:1-4  2. The wicked will inherit the sorrows of wealth. Verses 16-17, 1 Tim. 6:9- 10,17  C. This is the security of their heritage. Verses 18-19  1. Their heritage is insecure. Verses 18-19  2. Their heritage is corrupted. James 5:2-3  D. This is the effects of their heritage. Verses 20-23  1. The wicked will become terrified. Verses 20-21, Heb. 10:26-31  2. They wicked will be mocked. Verses 22-23, Gal. 6:6-9
