Why Study the Old Testament and Why Put It In Order? To clarify more the first point we must add that the entire Old Testament including but not limited to the Law of Moses (a.k.a. 10 commandments) has been put away in Christ (Colossians 2:14, Romans 7:1-6, Hebrews 9:15-17, and Ephesians 2:13-15). We should study the Old Testament because it is for our learning (Romans 15:4) We should understand the Old Testament to understand references and Prophesies. Example – How could we know what the Eunuch was reading in Acts 8:32-33 if we did not have Isaiah 53:1-12? Example – Mark 6:11 speaks of Sodom and Gomorrha. How could we understand the reference if we did not have the account of these two cities – Genesis chapters 18-19? Prophesy – Matthew 1:22-23 – How we would know of this prophesy if we did not have Isaiah 7:14? II.
