MORALITY IN THE CHURCH

KJV Matthew 5:14-16

14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Christians are likened unto a light that shines to the world. In thinking of this verse it brings many thoughts to my mind. I consider that if you take a light into a dark area you use it so that you can see. Christians being the light we are being brought into the dark to be a light that those around us may see the way out of sin. Yet we must always remember that we are sheep and the devil is a wolf in sheep clothing and he is waiting to pull us out from our light source and keep us away that the area we are shinning in will be again dark.

Tonight we will be talking about morality and how we can light our light shine in some ways and some things that we should not subject ourselves to as these things can make us weak and we may stop shinning.

I have first handed seen the effects drinking causes. I have seen what it does to a family and how it leads to very immoral living. I once heard a saying and I believe it holds very true. First, a man takes a drink then the drink takes him. I had a brother who took his first drink around the age of 12. I would like to ask him how and why but he is no longer alive to answer these questions.

DANCING AND SWIMMING Young people this issue can very much be the largest of the temptations a young man or lady will face. Being in a situation where you are not married and your rubbing up against someone that you obviously find attractive or you would not be holding them so closely. I once had a young man argue that he had no problems at dances and was not tempted in any way. I replied by asking him if he would let his girlfriend dance with another boy. He answered "no". I said to him then if dancing is not sexual why does it bother you? He could not answer. Let’s look at a biblical example:

6. But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

7. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.

8. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.

9. And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.
John the Baptist was beheaded because of an act that many say is not tempting. Do not put yourselves in the position.

This issue may be a month or so late seeing how high school proms have ended but I want to concentrate more on the older in this matter. Being married of course there is no problem with you dancing with your spouse. The problem exist as in where you carry out that act. Most of the places to dance normally are contained within a drinking environment.

Now with swimming; when is the last time you looked at the latest swimming fashions? Young men and lady’s do not go to the swimming pools to swim. They go for the sights of that exist there. I love to swim, but I have to find somewhere were there is no temptation to face. We are human and God man the opposite sex attractive so that we would mate. We need to keep this in mind as we subject ourselves to these things. Biblical reason:

KJV 1 Timothy 2:9

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

KJV Matthew 5:27-28

27. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

KJV Matthew 26:41

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

One of the things in our present day society that makes me totally sick! In the beginning God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve! The bible is very clear on this matter.

KJV Romans 1:21-28

21. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

ABORTION

January 22, 1973 the US Supreme Court declared the right for people to kill their unborn children for it was according to the courts their rights

We live in a country that will prosecute a man for double manslaughter if he is in a auto accident with a pregnant woman and the woman and the baby dies; yet if someone aborts a baby that is their choice because its her body. GET REAL HERE!!! Katrina and I heard our baby’s heart beat at 8 weeks and it was alive. The bible declares life before conception.

KJV Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

God has an obvious stand on this matter.

KJV Exodus 21:22

If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

God does not call a baby in the womb a fetus.

KJV Luke 1:40-41

40. And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

41. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

We have talked about a broad area of issues. These issues we will face and continue to face throughout all of our lives. Let us keep in mind that we are a light and we need to shine and keep our light bright. Yet we should not go too far into the darkness as it may consume our light.

If your light is no longer shinning and you want it to be once again lit. Repent today. Luke 13:3 tells us if we do not Repent we will perish.

If your not a Christian and you want to be. If you desire to follow the light and be out of the dark it is simple.

And be baptized ROMANS 6:3-5
